Fertilizing Room
You don't even have to do anything to find your place in our society. It is decided for you in your test tube. All people are predestined to be an Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, or Epsilon through our patented "Bokanovsky's Process.”
Bottling Room
This dimly lit room is home to our precious eggs. It is here where the egg gets wrapped in - what else but pig's peritoneum!
Social Predestination Room
Each embryo's sex is selected and it is here where "we predestine and condition" (13) using oxygen deprivation. Alpha eggs are slightly deprived of oxygen, but as you move down each level from Betas, to Gammas and Deltas and to the Epsilons, the level keeps decreasing. Epsilons have to be willing to take on the lowest jobs in society so we need them to be the most agreeable, so more oxygen deprivation for them!
Embryo Store
Embryos are transferred to bottles that spend 267 days of bliss in this tropical location designed to be like a womb (a concept that none of these babies will ever need to learn about). The unpredictability and stress of childbirth is a distant memory. Who needs emotional connection or human bonds? They just breed instability
Infant Nursery
Instead of having to study or learn from reading books, our children are taught everything they need to know through "hypnopaedia". It is "the greatest moralizing and socializing force of all time" (28). In the nursery, we make sure that experiences we discourage have very negative associations. "Books and loud noises, flowers and electric shock- already in the infant mind these concepts were linked" (22). No one tries to deviate from our rules because they have been so conditioned not to.
Pharmacy
Who wouldn't want an escape from their daily life? The moment a negative thought enters your head, pop a soma pill. Members of the Word State often say "a gramme is always better than a damn" (90), and "a gramme in time saves nine" (89). The bigger the problem, the more soma you should take. Any time your mind starts to wander to something critical, increase your dose until you can think of nothing clearly.
